Found in my inbox: batteries, personas, and greeting cards [Issue 1.2.3.10]

Good morning fellow netizens! I am starting a new series of posts which will cover between 3 to 5 cool things with some Indiana connections that I have come to know one way or another. So here we go…..

EnerDel to invest $237M in Indiana lithium-ion battery plant

1. $237M investment will double US production capacity and will add 1,400 additional jobs!
2. EnerDel will add capacity to produce battery packs for approximately 600,000 hybrid electric or 60,000 battery electric cars

You can read more about the investment and about Enerdel here.

How the Web sees you

Well the Indiana connection is a bit tenuous here. I stumbled onto this real cool project at MIT (Personas) through a blog written by Kevin Makice, whom many folks in Central Indiana have become very familiar with. This project shows you how the web see you. What you get is a visual representation of what your digital persona looks like. What I found cool about it is that the persona almost looks like a DNA profile. I highly recommend reading Kevin’s blog post before checking out the Project website. Here is what my persona looks like when I use my given name: Prabhakar Koduri:

I am still trying to figure out what the “legal” and “military” categories in my persona mean :-)

Create, Schedule and Send Real Greeting Cards Via the Web With enGreet

enGreet is a cool Indiana based startup and here is what they do in their own words:
“enGreet allows you to find, personalize and mail the perfect greeting card without leaving the house”. I like the idea and especially the scheduling feature – something that forgetful men like me can really appreciate. I am definitely going to take a look and may be even use it this Valentine’s Day.
